If you’re serious about getting faster in karting, let me be honest with you—there’s no magic setup, no secret sauce, no one-size-fits-all advice.

People will give you all kinds of tips, and sure, some are useful… but the truth?

It’s all about quality seat time. Period.

HIGH QUALITY TRACK TIME. And LOTS of it.

The Truth About Practice

You need to practice. A lot.

But not just endless laps for the sake of it—you need high-quality practice.

F1 drivers pend hours a day on the simulator.

Tennis players spend 4 to 5 hours training on the court.

Karting is the same.

Though I see too many drivers just driving without intention,. Only quantity but no quality.

They’re racking up laps, but they’re not really learning.

What really helps you level up is being intentional with every session you go through. I really mean it.

You need to be highly coachable and just going for it.

Think about what you’re working on.

Are you carrying enough speed into the corners? Are you braking too early? Are you opening up your lines?

Feedback Is Gold = Be Coachable

If you’ve got access to a coach or someone with experience, listen. Reaaally listen. Be coachable, man!

Feedback is gold, and the right piece of advice at the right time can completely change your driving.

Stuff like braking a bit later, carrying more speed through the corner, or choosing a better line, it all adds up big time.

But even if you don’t have a coach with you every weekend, don’t stress.

Karting is one of those sports where you can figure things out on your own if you stay curious and experiment.

Practice, Then Make It Yours

When you hear good advice, don’t just nod your head and move on. Try to make it yours. Get out there and apply it again and again. That’s how it sticks.

Honestly, I believe if I dropped you on a track with a go-kart and told you to drive every single day, you’d figure out how to go fast.

No doubt. Your instincts will develop, and you’ll learn what works and what doesn’t.

Nail the Fundamentals

There are a few things you need to get right, every single lap:

  • Brake as late as possible controlling the lock up.
  • Get on the gas as early as you can (but not too early to get pushed wide).
  • Open up the corners—use all the track available on entryies and exits.
  • Link everything together with a smooth rhythm.

When those things start to click, your lap times drop. And it feels amazing.

Final Thoughts

So yeah, take tips when you can, especially from people who’ve been there. But also don’t be afraid to learn by doing.

Put in the work, focus on improving every session, and soon enough, you’ll start seeing real results.

And if you’re ever stuck and want some feedback, send me a video. I’m happy to take a look at it.

Let’s keep pushing!
